All menus are accessed by pressing Alt-Z, where Z is the first letter of the menu, or by clicking the mouse on the appropriate item. For example, the "File" menu is pulled down by Alt-F. Status bar actions are performed by pressing the indicated key on the status bar. Use the tab key then press enter or use the mouse to obtain further help from the menu items listed below.

Questions (Alt-Q)
The Questions menu offers choices for initializing, starting the questioning session, printing the results from all sessions since initialization or reseting, reseting all stored files, or exiting the program.

Initialize (F2)
Choose this item when running the program
for the first time. This will ask you for a name, first and last. Use the tab key to move from box to box and then click on OK. A file will be created which will store information regarding the use of the program. Go

Start (F3)
Starts the program by presenting the user
with a file dialog box containing question files available. The sample files included with this disk can be assessed by clicking on the item and then choosing OK or pressing Alt-F to access the file list box. Use the arrow keys to highlight the file you want and then choose OK. You may move around any dialog box with the mouse or tab key. ,
After choosing start the question will
appear in the upper left hand corner, a hint box will be in the upper right hand corner, and the answer box appears at the bottom of the screen. The questions will be presented in a different order each time the program is run. Students in a computer lab working on the same set of questions will get the questions in a different order. Questions answered correctly previously will not be presented. When a student has answered all of the questions correctly the program will notify him. See Answer

Print Results (F4)
Will print out the results for the
student who has initialized the program. Time spent on each file along with every entry the student made during each session will be included on the printed report. This makes the student accountable for all work done. Go

The Exit command terminates this program. Go

Answer box
The answer box is where the student can
enter an answer, ask for hints, ask for the answer, skip a question, scroll the hint box up or down, or quit. When completed the student must choose Quit in order for the work she has done to be stored by the computer. To go from place to place either use the mouse or the tab key. The arrow keys can change the Option choices. Click on OK when ready. If the student wants to place an answer in the box tab to the answer box until the flashing cursor appears and type in the answer. Choose OK and the computer will indicate whether the answer is correct or not. If not correct and hints exist a hint will be presented in the upper right hand hint box. Every time the student makes a choice from the Answer box it will be recorded and saved to disk when Quit is chosen.
Entering an answer
To enter an answer tab or use the mouse until the
blue input line has a blinking cursor. Type your answer and then press enter. You will be informed if the answer is correct or not. If not correct a hint will be added to the hint window if any more hints exist. Go

Asking for a hint
If you do not know anything about the
question and would like a hint use the arrow and tab keys or the mouse to select a hint. Press the enter key and a hint will appear in the hint box if any more hints exist. Go

Asking for an answer
To ask for an answer use the arrow and tab keys or the mouse to select Give Answer then press the enter key. The answer plus any explanation will be provided. Go

Skipping a question
To skip a question use the arrow and tab keys or the mouse to select Skip Question. The question will be skipped and another question presented. Go

Scrolling the hints
Sometimes all of the hints will not fit into the hint box. If this is the case use the arrow and tab keys or the mouse to select Scroll Up or Scroll Down then press the enter key. The hint box will be scrolled up or down. Go

Quitting
This choice must be chosen to store all the work that has been done. When completed use the arrow and tab keys or the mouse to select Quit then press the enter key. The program will revert back to its original appearance and you may choose any of the menu items provided. Go
